About
Mark Stuart Senzig’s 22-year journey in massage and bodywork reads as a steady commitment to craft, clinical competence, and community service. From the outset, he gravitated toward approaches that blend precision with compassion—acupressure for its gentle, systemic regulation and myoskeletal techniques for their targeted, biomechanics-informed impact on pain and posture. That dual focus has allowed him to move easily between wellness settings and higher-acuity environments, meeting people where they are—at hospitals, clinics, community events, and neighborhood markets.
Across more than two decades, Senzig built a practice that balances clinical work with outreach. He contributed in a hospital pain clinic setting, supporting patients as part of a broader care plan. He also worked as a Certified Massage Therapist (CMT) in the ICU at Marin General Hospital, a role that demands both technical skill and the calm, communicative presence required in complex medical environments. Beyond hospitals, he volunteered at the Jewish Free Clinic, offering hands-on care to those who might not otherwise access complementary therapies. And he kept a strong community profile: for five years, he provided chair massage at a local farmers market, a long-running, grassroots gig that made the therapeutic touch approachable for everyday visitors. He also served at teacher appreciation events, honoring educators with restorative sessions during some of their most demanding seasons.
Recognition followed early on. In 2007, Senzig received Massage Envy’s Therapist of the Year award, an acknowledgment of technique, professionalism, and client-centered care. Yet his path shows that accolades were never the endpoint. He consistently used his skills where they were most needed, whether that meant contributing in a pain clinic, stepping into the intensity of an ICU, or rolling up his sleeves at free clinics and community gatherings.
Senzig’s technical identity is anchored in acupressure and myoskeletal work. Acupressure engages the body’s own regulatory systems through precise, noninvasive point work—often easing pain, calming the nervous system, and improving overall balance. Myoskeletal methods, by contrast, integrate orthopedic insight and postural assessment with targeted soft-tissue techniques to reduce tension, improve alignment, and restore functional movement. Together, these approaches let him address both symptom relief and the biomechanical patterns that can underlie persistent discomfort.
His professional credentials reflect that blend of breadth and depth:
- BCTMB: Board Certified in Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork, a national credential denoting advanced standards of education, professionalism, and continuing competence.
- NCBTMB-AP: National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork—Approved Provider, indicating authorization to teach approved continuing education to other therapists.
- MMT: Myoskeletal Master Therapist, signifying advanced training in myoskeletal alignment techniques focused on posture, pain patterns, and joint function.
- CMT: Certified Massage Therapist, a state-recognized professional credential to practice massage therapy.
Taken together, these designations show a clinician-educator who invests in both mastery and mentorship—someone who refines his own skills while contributing to the field as a whole. After 22 years, Mark Stuart Senzig’s journey is defined less by any single venue or title than by a consistent through-line: bring skilled, evidence-informed touch to people in pain; serve the community with humility; and keep learning. It’s a path that has woven hospital corridors and farmers market aisles into one coherent vocation—care, wherever it’s called for.
